Missing Since Invasion Day
Mr and Mrs Edward Sargent, of “Pightles Cottage”, Pightles-terrace, Rushden, received the news on Wednesday that their younger son, William Philip Sargent, of the R.A.M.C. Airborne Troop, has been missing in Normandy since June 6th. Aged 24 years, he has been in the Army since January 1941, transferring from a Bomb Disposal Squad to the R.A.M.C. twelve months ago. His education was received at Northcliffe House, Bognor Regis, and Cranleigh, Surrey. Later he was articled to Messrs Sharman and Trethewy, solicitors, of Bedford.
In August of last year he was married, his wife being the daughter of the Rev. J. W. Adams, of Southill Vicarage, near Biggleswade. His brother is Flight Lieut. R. E. B. Sargent, of the R.AF.
