Rushden Soldier Believed Killed
Sergt. Kenneth Roy Ekins, of the R.E.C.C.E., youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. P. G. Ekins, of 2, Blinco-road, Rushden, is reported “missing, believed killed” in Normandy.
The news was received last Thursday by his wife at Grimsby. Sergt. Ekins is 23 years of age, and was called up with the Territorials at the beginning of the war. Formerly he worked for Bignells Ltd., in Park-road. On March 8th he was married at Rushden to Miss Madge Spencer, who is a nurse at a Grimsby hospital.
His two brothers are in the Army Colour Sergt. G. D. Ekins, Northamptonshire Regt, returned to this country on “D-Day” after 6½ years’ service in India. The other is in the Army Catering Corps.
