Rushden Airman Killed
Further news from the Air Council to Mr and Mrs. G. Dickson, of 115, Cromwell-road, Rushden, confirms that their youngest son, Sergt. Air Gunner Ronald James Dickson, R.A.F., lost his life as the result of air operations on May 13th.
The wreckage of the aircraft in which Sergt. Dickson was flying was traced near Rhede, Germany, and it has been ascertained that the airman’s body was buried in the cemetery at Rhede.
Sergt. Dickson, who was 19, and had been in the R.A.F. since January, 1944, went to France three weeks prior to being reported missing. With his parents he came to Rushden from Croydon in 1941, and just before joining the Air Force was a dispatch rider for the N.F.S. His mother is a postwoman at Rushden, and his elder brother has been discharged from the Army after four years’ service.
