The War has been responsible for much that is evil, but at least it has brought to the front much latent enterprise, and the Advance Boot Co. is at least one good thing which has evolved since its commencement. Mr. G. H. Clarke is the head of the business, and under his able direction it has made considerable progress. He has nearly a quarter of a century practical experience, and is an expert in all that appertains to shoe manufacture. Mr. Clarke was with the fine old firm of Messrs. T. H. Gotch & Sons, Kettering, in his early days, and later with Messrs. B. Denton & Son, Rushden, where he gained much knowledge of the industry. The firm’s trade consists of Boys’ and Youths’ and strong Women’s footwear, for tramway conductors, field workers, etc. All these are good strong boots for hard wear. They are also producing boots for the Ministry of Munitions (High Explosives Supply) and in all they undertake satisfaction is assured.
