Ada & Harold had married in 1940 and soon afterwards Harold was called up. When he was demobbed in January 1946 he stayed with the Sail family as he and Ada were saving up to buy a home. In August they paid a first deposit of £25 followed by a second deposit of £75. They must have saved well during their courtship, despite the war for the document above shows they had a mortgage of £500, and the full price was £1,000. They moved into the property on February 14th 1948, and two days later their furniture was delivered by Townsend's Carriers.
