| The Rushden Echo, 15th April 1898, transcribed by Kay Collins
The Development of RushdenThe town of Rushden is still growing at a rapid rate, and we notice that only eight plots remain unsold on the Wellingboro'-road frontage to the Victoria estate, while over thirty plots have been sold on the Knuston-road. We learn, further, that Gordon-street and Graveley-street will be made at once. It will be remembered that Mr. Bletsoe offered this land by auction only a few weeks ago, and all has been sold except Plot 1, a clear testimony to the town has not ceased its remarkable development. Speaking at a bazaar opening at the Public-hall, Rushden, this week, two leading inhabitants of Wellingborough referred to the growth of Rushden, and one of these gentlemen described its increase as "the wonder of the Midlands."
