SCHOOL BOARDAt the ordinary meeting held on Monday there were present: Messrs. S. Knight, jun. (chairman), G. Denton (vice-chairman), J. T. Colson, J. Spencer, A. Cave, C. L. Bradfield, and Mr. J. Heygate (clerk).The Clerk reported a balance in the treasurer's hands on loan account No. 1 of £1,217 6s., on loan account No. 2 of £24 6s. 10d., and on the general account of £24 2s. 11d.On the proposition of Mr. Colson, seconded by Mr. Bradfield, Miss J. E. Talbot, of Broughton National School, was appointed to the post of head-mistress at the Newton-road Infant School at a salary of £70 per annum.It was proposed by Mr. Denton, seconded by Mr. Spencer, that Miss F. Price, Ewelme, Wallingford, be appointed assistant-mistress in the Newton-road mixed school at a salary of £50 per annum. It was decided to close the schools for the Christmas holidays from to-day (Friday) to Jan. 7th.
