Higham Ferrers - Pte. William Haddon, Northants Regt., only son of Mr and the late Mr Charles Haddon, Lancaster-street, Higham Ferrers, has made the supreme sacrifice, having been killed in action on March 25th. Deceased, who was 21 years of age, enlisted in August 1915, prior to which time he was in the employ of Mr F D Brazier, coach builder. As a lad he passed through the Wesleyan Methodist Sunday school, and he was also a member of the Wesleyan Boys’ Brigade, in which he was sergeant. Pte Haddon, who was home on leave about three months ago, had served two years on the Western front. When the deceased soldier was only about a year old his father died, and his mother, who is highly respected at Higham Ferrers, brought up the family of one son and two daughters.
