Higham Ferrers
A GARDEN PARTY, arranged as a Wesleyan Circuit Rally, was held in the grounds of “Bron Dinas" by kind permission of Ald. T. Patenall, J.P., and Mrs Patenall, M.B.E., Mayor and Mayoress of Higham Ferrers, on Saturday last, the weather being ideal for such an event. There was a good company present for tea. The following ladies presided at the tables: Mesdames W. A. Pack, A. Flawn, J. Randall, H. Granger, W. Middleton, A. Lines, Haddon, J. W. Pearson, J. Webb, J. S. Newell, and Sharp, and Misses Pasilow and G. Shortland. The Wesleyan Silver Prize Band, conducted by Mr. W. Harris, played selections while tea was being partaken of, aad also entertained those present with selections prior to the meeting. The Rev. J. G. Davies, of Rhodesia, formerly of the Higham Circuit, was the speaker, and after the Rev. C. Borman's introduction, Mr. Davies gave a very interesting address on "His work at home and abroad." The Rushden Park-road Wesleyan Church Choir conducted by Mr. A. E. Bates, gave an able rendering of "Excelsior." Miss Rose Peck was pianist. On the proposition of Mr. Borman, the Rev. J. G. Davies was heartily thanked for his splendid address. Thanks were also accorded to all who had helped in any way, especial mention being made of the Band, also of the Rushden Wesleyan Choir, and Mr. and Mrs. Patenall for the use of their grounds. A collection was made for the Circuit funds. The Rev. J, G. Davies preached at the Wesleyan Church, Higham Ferrers, on Sunday, good congregations assembling.
